The Art of Enlightening

Epic Mahabharata explains how a deformed young boy showed his ability to release many knowledgeable imprisoned old sages from Janaka's kingdom.
There was a Sage named Uddalaka was running a hermitage for teaching Vedic Upanishad knowledge. The sage had many disciples but particularly a disciple who highly impressed with sage Uddalaka named Kahoda was one of his best disciple. All the time sage Uddalaka was so happy with him and so he got his daughter named Sujata married to him. Within a short period Sujata, got pregnant and she wished her child to be ingenious than all the sages of that time. So, she used to attend all the classes taught by her father and her husband Kahoda, every day listening to their chanting the baby acquired full knowledge of all vedas, Upanishats and it became a great intelligent . One day in a class Kahoda was teaching veda but the pronunciation occurred mistake, but the baby from ti's mother's womb corrected him. Kahoda felt insulted in front of the disciples in the class, not only one time this happened on eight occasions, intolerably he cursed as "He will be born deformed."
The baby was aware of the correct pronunciation of every syllable since its mother used to attend classes and the baby totally absorbed all hymns with out mistakes, yet to evident of the curse the child born with eight deformities of the body. ( the two feet, the two knees, the two hands, the chest and the head). He was named Ashtavakra, which means "one having eight bends".
In the mean time Mithilapuri King Janaka's court there was a sastras recital and explanation program was going on during the recital there was a place said that "A man can become enlightened (Brahma gyanam) in between the time it takes for one foot to be placed in his horse stirrup of the saddle which guarantee him to enlightened Self-Knowledge between the time he lifted himself to place the other foot on the other stirrup.” Janaka asked the sage to stop it on that place then inquired the sages that “ it is possible”? The sages said to him that” Yes your majesty it is possible” The king replied “yes if it is true can you do it right now” can I ask to bring a horse? “no your majesty”the king asked them “It is untrue” Then the sages told “Your majesty perhaps we are enable to explain but the Sastras can not be false, it is true” the king said “My respectful saint I am very sorry it is not possible perhaps it may be exaggeration or untrue”. The sage told to the king “No your majesty Sastras will not give mere truth certainly that word is true.” The king said very angrily”O sages until it prove I put you in jail” saying this he put all the sages in jail. This act was going on many years whoever fail to prove they be in the jail, like this many learned sages are in jail. Around that time there was an another debate program was held with the King Janaka's court by instructor and philosopher Bandin so for that program Kahola participated but somehow he defeated by bandin and he drowned in the river.
Many years passed Ashtavakra grown and he was ten year old so he heard that his father punished by Bandin and plenty of sages in Janaka's kingdom jail. He decided to rescue all the sages and his father, so he went to King Janaka's palace but the gatekeepers refused to allow him, Ashtavakra enraged with angry and said “O men of gate controllers don't see the body, realize the knowledge go and inform your king that I have come to participate with the debate program and also I will revive your king's confused mind”. Hearing Ashtavakras angry words one of the gate keeper went in and informed about Ashtavakra's arrival. As soon the king heard the name from gatekeeper he ran and came out and invited him respectfully took him to debating council-chamber and offered him a nice seat, then Janaka tested Ashtavakra with deep difficult questions which Ashtavakra he answered with ease. Janaka decided to let Ashtavakra face Bandin. Bandin Inform to Ashtavakra that he will compose six offhanded verses, then Ashtavakra should complete If Bandin defeated by Ashtavakra he would grant any wish of his winner. Bandin composed the first half of a verse, then Ashtavakra completed the verse by composing the second half and thus won the argument against Bandin. Ashtavakra demanded that Bandin be drowned into water just as he forced his beat out opponents to do. On Bandin's request, Varuna happily sent out the sages and Brahmains and brought them to surface. Ashtavakra then he turned to King Janaka and said that I come for your doubtful mind. then Janaka explained his doubt. Ashtavakra said “I will clear your doubt yet first you release all sages pandits from your jail”. The king released all from the jail all became free.
In this place I wish to tell that Epic Mahabharatham revealed Ashtavakra Gita. It is consisting 298 stanzas and 20 chapters has adequate strait forward messages to learn easy way to have a knowledge for ultimate realization. It is purely advtha siddhantham. According to Ashtaaavakra if one has basic spiritual knowledge can easily understand well the supreme truth (Braman)
Ashtavakra Gita is a dialogue between Ashtavakra and Janaka on the nature of soul, reality and bondage. The Gita insists on complete unreality of external world and absolute oneness of existence.
Ashtavakra asked King Janaka to explain the sentence that he had uncertainty about the truth. King Janaka said “O virtues sage if A man can become enlightened(Brahma gyanam) in between the time it takes for one foot to be placed in the horse stirrup of the saddle which guarantee him to enlightened Self-Knowledge between the time he lifted himself to place the other foot on the other stirrup.” is it true?” the sage accepted “Yes true” the King asked Ashtavakra to show him, Ashtavakra told him that not here come along with him so Janaka also went on his horse accompanying with soldiers Ashtavakra followed by palanquin and all they entered a thick forest so Ashtavakra told king that” O your majesty now kindly send all your soldiers back you stay alone “ the King sent of all of the soldiers and said “Guru now I am ready the sage said “well your majesty come down and do as you hear” so he came down and once he did what he listened when he was rising his another leg Astavakra said, "Stop King, Don't you know that you must have a guru to be able to realize God?" yes guru I surrender myself to you and, I give you my body, my mind and every belonging I possess."Upon hearing this, Astavakra left Janaka alone and he went to a nearby cave for several hours. When he returned, he was amazed to see Janaka still in the very same position when he left him, with only one foot in the stirrup.
Astavakra asked, "Oh, King! What happened to you? You haven't moved for hours." Janaka was no movement . He stated, "O Guru , I have given everything to you, and now I can't find anything to do or to think."
Astavakra replied, "This foot in the saddle is ignorant and self knowledge is meant for a high quality aspirant as to a high position, and you are that. Janaka, perceived this, Guru said Janaka you are the ever liberated, pure, divine, eternal, self-illumined. More he said Janaka just I tested you now we can go to your palace l incite rest. This Ashtavakra Gita message is not only to Janaka also to the world.
This story illustrates the perfect relationship between a guru and a devotee. Janaka's dedication to discovering the truth is so strong, Ashtavakra's arrival illustrated to Janaka within that particular time. . Janaka demonstrates ideal devotion to his master through the complete surrender of his mind, body, and all possessions. He gives up everything of himself, and becomes completely enlightened.
Message:
To attain the ultimate knowledge of divine unity, we as seekers, must have the necessary strength and courage to surrender all identities and attachment, , and be completely free. 'which means we may surrender into the ocean of universal soul'. May we all be blessed with the knowledge and experience of our very genuine nature.
The ultimate goal of spiritual practice is enlightenment, or direct realization of the divine unity. The ancient sages knew that this ultimate realization of oneness with the True self or God.; The Ashtavakra Gita illustrates several important aspects of the ideal devotee and his or her relationship to the master and dedication to the subject and value of meditation.
Scientifically also proven the meditations value.
According to a medical report says meditation can generate calmness and clear mind as well as improve concentration and attention. Neurologist report says that meditation increases the brain’s gray matter density, and enhance ones immune system, help to regulate heavy emotions, and relieve stress. Attentive meditation in particular has been proven helpful for people with depression, anxiety, cancer, muscular pain and headaches, chronic pain, arthritis, type 2 diabetes, chronic tiredness
Constant prayer will bring relaxation, calm and mercy which have a positive effect and healthy condition. The concentration on meditation for a family man/woman bring cheer and support in difficult times, a recent study says that clinically depressed adults who believed their prayers were heard by a concerned presence responded much better to treatment than those who did not believe. This is the reason why our ancestors, Gurus and all puranas Vedas, Upanishats and epics instructions “do prayer and meditation and completely surrender your self to almighty of God he will make you to aware that “who are you' or “Who am I”
Burn down the forest of ignorance with the fire of the understanding that "I am the one pure awareness," and be happy and free from distress. 1.9 (Ashtavakra Gita)
All this, which has originated out of me, is resolved back into me too, like a jug back into clay, a wave into water, and a bracelet into gold. 2.10 (Ashtavakra gita)
Truly dualism is the root of suffering. There is no other remedy for it than the realisation that all this that we see is unreal, and that I am the one stainless reality, consisting of consciousness. 2.16 (Ashtavkra Gita)

Symbolism

Theology of eternity is a circular symbol of a snake swallowing its own tail symptom for infinity or wholeness. Its other meaning is rebirth. This serpentine circle is also used worldwide in religions as a symbol of eternal service. When it grows, the serpent has a special talent to discard and replace its old skin with new skin. It is said that this action represents rebirth and new beginnings, as the spirit is casting off the diseased, old body, for a fresh, new one. Which means “Punarabi Janane Punarabi Marane”almost all cultures having the serpent symbol is in its representation of vital energy. This snake (energy) remains coiled within us at the base of our spine in a bone and there it sits inactive state it is called Kundalini energy and it is said Kundalini energy is considered as feminine, the movement of the kundalinis final unity of the masculine (masculine means one can think as Lord Siva or Lord Vishnu ) through the heart, and (the heart signifying as balance, or true devotion desires) reach Sahasradhalapadmam on middle of head is a precious act it is said that jeevatma unity with paramatma and will bring freedom 'Jeevan mukthi'.. to practice this one should have nice well known trained guru and daily practice only it is possible. Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam is explained elaborately the movement of Kundalini sakthi.
Naga deva is taking the form of a very large snake and it is primarily represents birth, death and mortality, due to its casting of its skin and being symbolically "reborn".in fact it has its own logam called Nagalogam.
The snake associated with Siva and Vishnu, (Lord Vishnu reclined on divine snake Adishesa and Lord Siva is coiled around his neck) the philosophical meaning is freedom and desires under control with almighty of god no one can domesticated. confused mind of individual with his numerous desires, which are just like the poisonous of a snake, it kills virtues. It is an indication of the necessity of an individual to control one's desires to hold the eternal truth and become one with the Supreme Lord.

Lord Narayana is never separated from the serpent Adisesha, who accompanied Him even during his incarnations. When Narayana came to the earth as Rama, Adisesha accompanied Him and incarnated as Lakshmana. Adisesha's service to the Lord was remarkable and prime example and selfless service. Alwar's promissory appreciation on Adhisesha is “Ninral Kudai, Amarnthal Aasanam, padutthal padukkai and so on. When the Lord incarnated as Krishna, Adisesha also incarnated as his elder brother Balarama. It is said Acharya Ramanuja is considered the reincarnation of Adisesha and Acharya Manavala Mamunigal first Jeeyar too was an re- incarnation of Adisesha.
Elaborating on the greatness of Manavala Mamunigal, it is said he too was completely vincible selfless service to the religion . He had only one aim in his mind denoting of writing, explanation and propagate the Visishtadvaita philosophy, for those who were confused and did not know the right path to attain moksha.
Sri Manavala Mamunigal is a saint from Srivaishnava Tengalai Sect, Incarnation of Adisesha He was born in Alwarthirunagari, Tamilnadu. His birth name was Alagiya Manavala Ma Munigal (1370–1443) was a vaishnavate religious leader, mamunigal spread Visishtadvaita philosophy.
Swami Manavala Mamunigal was born in 1370, at Alwarthirunagiri in Tamil Nadu, to 'Tigazhaakkidanthan Tirunaveerudaiya piran dasar annar' and 'Sriranga Nacchiyar'.His other names were Ramyajamathru, Saumyajamatru, Visada-Vak-Sikhamani Yathindrapravanar, Varayogi, varavaramuni. The young manavalan had his basic education under his father and maternal grandfather. He learnt the Vedas, Vedanta and the Divya Prabandam from his father. He entered married life at the age of 16 years and soon after, his father attain divine realization then he become the disciple of the famed acharya Thiruvaimozhipillai. In a very short while, the young, intelligent manavalan mastered everything that he learnt all sastras and Divya Prabhandham. He also developed, a very deep devotion towards his Acharya Thiruvaimozhipillai and Swami Ramanuja. Swami Thiruvaimozhipillai was acting as an instrument in reviving the Idol of Swami Ramanuja at Azhvar thirunagari and he built a temple for Swami Ramanuja. In a auspicious day the young Azhagiya Manavalan in charge of the temple. Manavalan’s earnest devotion towards Swami Ramanuja made him to write a beautiful composition called “Yathiraja Vimsati”,it is considered to represent essence of the high-flown ‘iramanusa nootrranthadi’. So Manavalas sincerity, commitment and devotion pleased to his acharya Thiruvaimozhipillai, he was so happy with him and who gave the title “Yatheendra Pravana” to the young Manavalan.
In the mean time Manavalan's guru fall sick so he advised to Manavala to learn and propagate Sri bhasya and spend most of his time in propagating and preaching the Divya Prabhandam of the Azhvars that is so passionate of Swami Ramanuja and other acharyas. Further he asked Manavalan to stay at Srirangam and perform service to Lord Ranganatha just as his ancestors path.
He was very interested studying and discourses and deliverance of Nalayira Divyaprabantham and other vedangas gathered wide spread in nation and a prominent auspicious day Azagiya Manavalan took asceticism from Sri Sadagopa Jeeyar of Azhwar Thirunagari so as a sanyasa dharma his title given Ramanuja Jeeyar. Thence he promote as a first jeeyar to the Vanamaamalai mutt for Sri Vaishnava sampradaya, .
Philosophical works and commentaries of Manavala Ma muni swamy.
When Manavala Mamunigal continued to live in Srirangam and involved himself completely in writing commentaries for works of Pillai Lokacharya. He wrote elaborate commentaries for three of Pillai Lokacharya's rahasya granthas namely Mumukshupadi, Sri Vachana Bhushanam and Thathvathrayam. He also wrote commentaries on the works of swami Arulaalapperumal Gnyaana Saaram and Prameya Saaram. In addition, he provided the effect of Nammalvar's thiruvaimozhi in the form of poetic verses tuned in the Andhaadhi meter in his musical composition Thiruvaimozhi nootrandhaadhi. Mamunigal praise highly the greatness of the Azhwars and the acharyas commentaries on Thiruvaimozhi in his Upadesa rathina malai
It is said that, while at a very old age, Manavala maamuni discovered that part of Periyavachchaan pillai's commentary on Periyalvar Tirumozhi was missing. So he duly restored the lost portion of the commentary. It is also noted that he composed the commentary on Acharya Hrdayam with great difficulty as his health was unsatisfactory. When he became very ill, he dedicated one Tamil stanza a day, expressing to Ramanuja his distress at staying in this world and his eagerness to reach Vaikuntham. These collected verses became known as Arti Prabhantham, was his last work.
Even today one can found along Divya Prabhandam recitals can hear Vaazhi thirunamam for Manavala Mamudigal in all Sri Vishnu temples..,

Absolute Truth

The world's oldest religion is Hinduism, it has no beginning yet it has a predate recorded history. It has no human founder but its theology is adorable, It is not a religion just the 'way of life' this field of study is leading to the higher level of devotion and the truthful awareness, which leads to a towering peak of height where the man and God are one.
The eternal belief in the immortal of the Vedas,Upanishats and the world's most ancient Scriptures, are showing the high path of the (Agamas) theory, principal, law, and doctrine of the Karma essence of the fundamental principle of Sanatana Dharma, the eternal way of living..
Sanatana Dharma is the conscious awareness of humanity to realize its sanctity of recognition on only one and absolute eternal truth or Brhaman. It's prescriptions are "daily morality" based on karma, dharma, and societal norms. Sanātana means Eternal, which has no beginning or end. Hence, it is beyond the time, this is the reason why it is the oldest living religion in the world. Dharma shows to the essential fact which supports life as we all know well. At the same time, it is also shows us the path of righteousness to reach the goal. That's why Sanātana Dharma is referred to as 'a way of life'
There is a proverb says the man is a master of his own fate. This proverb meant If a man is an ignorant who is his own responsibility to face his fate. Otherwise if one has aware of,at least some qualities who is called a good personality. If one really knowledgeable and practiced all as follows: 1. The truth of life .2. The devotion values 3.Knowledge of object,4 mental representation of real virtues nature, 5. strong feeling, 6 unity of thought,7. Belief, 8 .Natural physical attribute of meditation and awareness of scholarly subjects like ancient Vedas /Epics,and so on These all qualities having personalities are called Sages, Gurus, Acharyas, Alwars, and Nayanars almighty of God shines in their souls; This is why man and god are one. Now we are going to see such a kind of a man who is an ardent Siva devotee is called Meiporul Nayanar, He is one of a 63 men of god called Nayanmargal.
Meiporul Nayanar was a King of Thirukkovilur and Siva devotee par excellence. He had control over the hill tribes of Sethi. He was consider courteous and courageous in his kingship to the country. He was the man of god to the citizen of the kingdom. He is belonged to the Malayamān dynasty which is related to the Vellalars clan of agriculturalists. His name "Meiporul" means "one for whom God was the sole reality". Miladudaiyar is a title indicating him being a Miladu chief.
Meiporul Nayanar was a devout devotee of the Lord Siva. Being well versed in the Agamas, he was living to Saivite ways of life adorned with Rudraksham and Veboothi signified the Absolute Truth. Everything to him was Lord Siva 'Sarvam Sivamayam'. He served to the Lord Siva temples as well as his devotees (Siva Yogis). He organized elaborate pujas in Siva temples. The kingdom flourished along with Saivism and the humanistic discipline. His neighbouring countries were very jealousy on Nayanars ruling method and the kingdom's prosperity. Muthanathan, the king one of his neighbouring countries, became greedy of Tirukkoyilur's prosperity. He attacked on Tirukkoyilur many times, but was beat out by Nayanar's troops. The king Muthanathan was thinking so long time and he decided to send a spy secretly to Thirukkoyilur to watch on the Nayanars actions in details. consequently he sent a soldier to Thirukoyilur, and all the actions verified and Muthanathan getting the news every minute.
Accordance Muthanathan arrived in Tirukkoyilur, changed himself as a Saiva ascetic (yogi). The guards let him through and finally he reached the king's bed room, guarded by minister Dathan. While Dathan was telling the ascetic from entering since the king was taking rest, however Muthanathan compelling that he wanted to teach the king the knowledge of gaining liberation. Dathan let him through; the queen got up and seeing the ascetic enter and awakened
the king Nayanar. Muthanathan said “O my dear devotee Lord Siva himself instructed me to teach the liberation hymn to you, so I am here to incite the hymn to my beloved staunch devotee, by the way I wish to teach you secretly for that we need some privacy” Heard this Dathan had a little suspicious mind so he hidden himself and watching him. According the Siva yogis request Nayanar sent off his queen and other guards. He placed to the fake yogi Muthanathan on a high seat, while he sat at the feet of ascetic. Muthanathan quickly removed a knife hid with him and stabbed the king. Dadhans doubt came true he came out from his hidden place and rushed to the king's chamber and attacked the ascetic. As Dathan was about to strike the ascetic with his sword, the Nayanar stopped him and said “for a Saiva, the ascetic whoever may be he is related to Lord leave him “ and ordered him to ensure the ascetic is escorted unharmed to the boundary of the kingdom. Dathan accompanied Muthanathan outside the city and left him in an abandoned forest, where no one could harm him. Dathan returned to the king and conveyed the news of the safety of the ascetic. Meiporul Nayanar called his minister, wife and kin to his death-bed and advised to all “It is our duty to serve Siva devotees, and they must be honoured and worshipped at all times and under any circumstances. Let our people walk in the footsteps of the Siva devotees. Let the country be flooded with Siva devotees, by their blessings, let peace and prosperity sovereignty to this country”. With these words, he closed his eyes and meditated on Lord Siva. Lord pleased with his intensive and pure devotion,Siva Sakthi appeared in front of him and blessed the Nayanar with his highest abode..
The samadhi of Meiporul Nayanar is at the Siva temple at Thirukkovilur. It is dedicated to the great victory of Lord Siva over Andhakasura, the demon of darkness. The temple is ancient in age and glorified in the Thevaram and other Saiva Thirumurais. It is one of the “Padel Petra Siva Sthalam”
The indirect attentively valuable message from this Nayanar very important to a mankind:
               “keenly watchful to avoid danger

Enlighting Event

According to mythology and Vedas the sun is god and the existing divine, the sun is described as sun god is in red coloured with three eyes four arms and sitting on a chariot carried by seven horses. Charioteer is called arunadeva and the horses are consider the planets and sun god is important deity. The sun god is also believed to bring good fortune. So Soorya deva is described in the scriptures Purana Idhikasas and Vedas in a great manner. A popular story from Devi Mahapuranam Yadava king Satrajit worshipped sun god and god appeared in front of him and bestowed a chain called Syamanthaka and it would produce for eight bharas of gold daily. (the measure it is said"Four kundhumani  is are one gunja; five gunjas, one pana; eight panas, one karsa; four karsas, one pala; and one hundred palas, onetula. Twenty tulās one bhara." there are about 3,700 kundumanis in an ounce;”) the Syamantaka was producing approximately 170 pounds of gold every day. It was also the source of the reflecting brilliant power occurrence of the Sun god. Another story in Mahabharatham Yudhirstra worshipped  Sooryadeva and he bestowed 'akshaya patram' and so on.
The modern astronomy note says (this details I read in internet) that the Sun is the star at the centre of the Solar System. It is almost round shape and consists of hot plasma inter linking with magnetic areas. and its weighs about 332,950 times the Earth's weight..in addition chemically about three quarters of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen, whereas the rest is mostly helium. The explanation about helium. Most stars, after converting a significant portion of their hydrogen to helium cause an internal change, the internal midpoint collapses, and heats up, until it is hot enough to fuse helium into larger atoms, At this same time, some helium with the carbon to produce oxygen. there is still enough hydrogen to fuse into more helium. But the inner most parts begins into larger atoms. This, by the way, is the transition from a 'normal' star become sun to a red giant. The remaining part consists of heavier elements, including oxygen, carbon, neon andiron, among others. In addition that the silicon absorbs sun light and passes that energy to the accelerates to split water into unit of hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is a fuel that can be either burned or used in a fuel cell to create electricity, reforming water in either case. This means that in theory, anyone with access to water can use it to create a inexpensive, clean, fuel.

Surya Siddhanta has been one of the astronomical Siddhanta which has been worked out by a number of astronomers from time to time. The work of Surya Siddhanta has been in the book Panchasiddhantika author is Varahamihira.
Varāhamihira 505–587CE astronomer, mathematician, and astrologer who lived in Ujjaini. He was born in Avanti region. He was educated at Kapitthaka. He is considered to be one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) of the court of legendary ruler King Vikramaditya.
Itis said Panacha siddhanthika is a written material on mathematical astronomy and it expresses five earlier astronomical materials, which are the Surya Siddhanta, Romaka Siddhanta, Paulisa Siddhanta,Vasishtha Siddhanta and Paitamaha Siddhantas. It is a collection of Vedanga Jyotisha, as well as relating to the Greeks astronomy Egyptian and Roman elements. He was the first one to mention in his work Pancha Siddhantika that the ayanams, (Dhakshinayanam/Utrayanam)or the shifting of the cosmic time.
The old version of Surya Siddhanta it is said which was summarized by Varahamihira had been much different from the present day version of Surya Siddhanta which was developed in 400AD. Surya Siddhanta has been referred by many number of astronomers from time to time which include Aryabhata I.
Withthe sun's travel now it is Utrayanam punya kalam is beginning and Sankaranthi celebration begins. Sakranti means to go from one place to another place (to change direction). The time when the sun changes direction from one constellation to another is called Sankranti.
Transition of the Sun from Sagittarius to Capricorn(Dhadusu to Maharan) during the winter cosmic time in the northern geographical region(Uttarayanam) is known as Makara Sakranti. The day when the sunbegins its northward journey falls in 14th January. which is constant every year. Only during the leap year will be on 15thJanuary, For the people of the northern geographical region, the northward path of the sun marks the period when the sun is getting closer and closer to them, when the days are getting longer, and it is becoming warmer to hottest.
There are 12 sankaranthis every month transition from one zodiac sign to another. but two of these are most prominent;
Those two are Mesha Sakrantiand Makara Sakranti they are called Dhakshinayanam and Uthirayanam. Every special reasons make the northward journey of the sun sacred and auspicious.
Science connects great importance to the sun. The philosophy greets to worship as lord so we all understand that the sun is all important, the tireless and the source of light and energy. Without sunlight no one will live This is why the sun’s existence, movements and positions in the universe are so important . If one worship the sun he has a specified heights for knowledge, spiritual light and wisdom. In fact, the sun itself stands for all the ideals of the Pongal festival. Its message is that of peace, unity, harmony and truthfulness are the great heights of philosophical doctrines of Karma Yoga.
During this holy festival we learn to feel our unity with all creation; true knowledge, piousness, kindness, love, purity and forgiveness. Our real wealth is the goodwill, courteous, gracious; and true friendship.
Makara Sakranti is base to faraway the ignorance, and begin to light on toget the Lords graceful shine from brighter to brightest luminously in our life. We all delightfully begin to walk on righteous path to get Suryadeva's bestowed wisdom, purity, and knowledge.

Staunch Devotee

In a figurative talk people use to say as blindly optimistic. blindly granting, blindly following , blindly pushing, blindly conceding. However, 'blind worship' is not figurative. It is real and truly happens, we go further and see what it is.
The great land have given birth plenty of scholars, profound moral and spiritual insight of knowledgeable Sages who possesses self-generated powers as Adi Sankara, Gyanasambanthar,Naukarasar, Manikkavasakar and so on. But even today one loves to hear a beautiful tale of a hunter who became an ardent devotee of Lord Siva. Really amazing.
The land green with the forests and hills having the excellent nature offers was the kingdom called Pothappi Nadu. There was a small village is called Uduppur in the kingdom. There was a hunter couple living in the village named Nagan and Thattai. They have had no children so they prayed to Lord Muruga and lord blessed a male child and it was heavy born baby so they happily gave name as Thinannan to the child (Thinnan means strong or heavy.)
The boy grew with the array of ornaments made out of animal bodies decorating his young and strong chest and waist, playing by catching the wild pigs, snakes and wild dogs, with the parents immersed in the sweet of his evolving talk. When he attain to the age of learning archery, fixed on an auspicious day and made a big arrangement through his hunters in all the directions. The hunters participated in the festive like a ceremony from many places and gifted many precious things like gems, leather, ivory, honey, favorite flesh varieties, fruits and roots to the young prince. After offering the custom sacrifices, Nagan arranged for a massive feast. Went on this ceremony for seven days. His father's tutelage Thinnan learnt the art of archery perfectly without any mistake. Once he entered his sixteenth year of age, by then Nagan grew old and found it difficult to take up the hard task of hunting. The hunter's chief received many complaints about Nagan. So Nagan told him that “chief I am unable to hunt animals because I am grew old so I send my son to take up the task of hunting.” heard this they were happily accepted though they felt sorry that they all missing their nice leader. Nagan consulted with a hunters astrologer for an auspicious day for his son's first hunting and he performed nice pooja activities to god and sent Thinnan according to his origin. Thinnan happily started his hereditary occupation and in a due course he became very familiar to the hunter's community.
One day Thinnan started his work early in the morning and went to the forest. There was a wild bore was escaping from him so he was chasing it. It ran fast and hid somewhere and he could not find it, so sadly when he was returning to his place by a path through bilava vanam happen to see a Siva lingam covered with flowers and also all the offerings scattered out so he felt sad and he cleaned all with his arrow and went for hunting and caught a rabbit and took with him and went to near by a water source and took his mouthful of water came to lingam and spit water on the deity and put the flesh of rabbit near by Siva lingam and went.
A brief description how the lingam emerged in that particular place? The Kalahasthi Mahatmiyam says, Once devi parvathi wished to learn panchakshari (Means Five letters) on lord so she took as a human being and she was doing severe penance in Bilwa vanam (Vanam means forest), Lord wished to test her penance so he became huge in size and create a heavy water source with its turbulently terrible flood and it covered over Parvathi devi's head , yet she did not move from the place, seen that he was doing more and more horrifying trouble to her but she did not move and her attention was steady on her penance she did not bother of any hindrance So Lord impressed with the unshakable constancy, Lord Siva appeared in front of her and fulfilled her desire of understanding the Siva Panchakshari hymn from lord himself. Then she emerged and appeared in her unique physical radiance and incomparable intellectual name as Gnana Prasunambika. Because she did penance for knowledge so (Gnan means knowledge, prasuna means born Ambika means goddess )She incarnated for (Gnanam) so she earned the name Gnanaprasunambika Lord Siva stayed with Devi forever as her wish in that place..
In the previous birth Thinnan was one of the pandava brothers Arjuna, when he was doing penance on Lord Siva for 'Pasupathasthiram' the Lord wished to test his stable mind so Lord and Parvathi changed as a hunters and Moogasura as a wild bore so lord asked the bore to distract his penance, as lords instruction bore given Arjuna lots of distractions, he was bearing of all provocation, but at one stage he could not tolerate and lost his patience he took an arrow from his bag and shot the bore, at the same time Lord as a hunter also shot an arrow the same time stuck the both the arrows on the bore. They both were quarreling that who shot the bore first, soon they started to fight each other Arjuna did not tire. At last Arjuna recognized Lord so he asked pardon to the Lord and the lord showed his own appearance and told Arjuna to ask two his wished boons. Arjuna asked two wishes one was the pasupatastram the another is gods realization. Lord Siva said the first his wish pasupathastram will be granted immediately, but the realization the Lord said to him that he will get by his next birth in Kaliyuka so as the gods boon Arjuna got pasupatastram then he reborn as Thinnan to a hunter family.
Previously there was a Siva yogi was doing puja performance to the Lord as it the next day the Siva yogi came to do worship the Lord but he saw all clumsy in the place with blood strain and stale meat, very sadly he cleaned the place and did abishegam with milk and some things for anointment to the lord then he offered some neivadyam and went home. Soon after he went Thinnan came and the same way he cleaned the place with his arrow and he did the same way of devotion. This time he brought some wild cooked animal meat, as this kind of thing was happening every day. The Siva yogi got irritably annoyed about this action so he told to the Lord “O Lord what kind of sin I did to see you with this kind of unrighteous way of abuse you? My Lord you are ultimately greatest in the world whoever did unknowing cause this kind of sin kindly pardon him” saying this yogi to begin to clean the place. During the cleaning work there was an aerial voice said “O zealously fervent devotee tomorrow watch then you recognize the truth.“ Siva yogi heard this and very happily expecting the event finished his work and he went off
The Lord Siva wished to reveal Tinnan's ardent devotion to the world. Siva yogi unusually came to perform puja once he finished his puja he hidden himself without finding any one. Thinnan as usual came to the lord but a little late this time he brought cooked deer by dry heat came in and said “O swamy are you very hungry?I am sorry I am a little late because get delayed to cook saying this and went as usual he took some mouthful of water some bilwa leaves in his two hand and came spit on Lord and put the bilwa leaves and said” swamy already it is late take food that I brought for you.”All of sudden he noticed waterwas oozing from Lords right eye as soon as he saw that he ran to the forest and brought some herbal leaves and just he munch nicely and took out from his mouth and applied lords eyes the water stopped but bleeding started from Siva's same eye he worried and thought to do treat the same way with the herbs but the bleeding did not stop he could not do any thing and he was state of mental strain, nervousness, high-strung he was struggling for a second just he took sharp arrow and took of his own eye and applied on Lord Siva's eyes the bleeding is stopped then unfortunately he saw the lords left eye started to bleed he said to Lord “O swamy you need not worry, I know the remedy to stop this “ spoken like this he marked the bleeding eye with his leg standing with one leg he took off his right eye and offered to his bleeding eye. Saw this Sivacharriar become stunned to see this action. Lord Siva with Sakthi appeared in front of Thinnan and said “Thinna I bless you to have your eye sight with knowledge because you offered your eyes to me so from now on you are called as Kannappa you will attain liberation. No comparison than your true and pure devotion in this world. Then Lord called Sivayogi and said “O devotee come you also saw the Kannappa's unconditional devotion I tell you who is this Thinnappa he was Arjuna in his previous birth as My boon he born as a hunter and now he attained liberation. Siva yogi said that “O lord I withdrawn my blunt knowledge I too attained to your aboard. Siva Sakthi disappeared . Even today one can see in Kalahasti temple Kannappa Nayanar is kept Lord Siva's right side in sanctum

Message:
Bhakti is two kinds, one is knowledgeable devotion which is chanting Eswara hymns and archana, doing all rituals. The another is senseless or insensible devotion. Some people will not know any of the formalities but they are very attached to god and unconditional lovable devotion to the Lord, "The most elevated, pure love for God" that is Kannappa Nayanars devotion to words Lord Siva. He offered his own eyes to Lord. He did not think that he will be blind witch is called unselfish service, secondly he beautifully managed the situation, Teaching from this story is really excellent with virtuous excellence to understanding the time, presence of mind, immediate vicinity; proximity: if one has crucial situation how to manage. God never ask any of formalities he loves only pure and unconditional lovable devotion. The aspirant devotee is encouraged to passionate affection with lives "social welfare" and "religious rituals" purely dedication, stands on service to God and reaching the perfection of life.".
